Resumen

Introduction: technology acquisition is a way for companies to improve their performance. In order to truly fulfill this purpose, it is necessary to organize structure and formalize it as a process. Objective: identify the main difficulties in which they have incurred in this process a group of companies of the territory. Materials and Methods: qualitative and quantitative analyses were developed based on the results of the interviews with managers of the selected companies. Results and Discusion: a group of problems was identified in the different stages of the process (identification, acquisition, assimilation, diffusion, development and commercialization) that hinder its successful development. Conclusions: technology acquisition negotiations should be carried out as an orderly process, in several stages, involving qualified personnel and updated information from various sources, allowing the company to assimilate, improve and perfect the technologies it acquires, in search of its technological independence.
